7. How are hair extensions applied? (back to top)

  • Fusion aka Strand by Strand:
This is a process done strand by strand in small sections. Using pre-tipped (U-tip or I-tip) hair or applied with a heating gun and the hair strand is covered by keritan. Extension hair is added directly to your own hair. Your hair lays over the top for a natural look. We sell a starter practice kit that will help you with this technique. (Licensed Stylist ONLY)
  • Weaving:
This is a process which you create a corn row or track around the head and close to the scalp. Extension hair is sewn on the tracks. Your own hair lays over the tracks for a natural look. (This technique grows the hair the BEST).
  • Bonding:
This is the easiest method. Bonding glue is applied onto the weft of the extension hair and then applied at the root of your hair. This is a temporary method. We sell bonding glue and remover. Not recommended for persons shampooing daily.

Wash the hair in one direction. From top to bottom. Avoid washing hair upside down in the sink. Use LaQue’s shampoos and conditioners that were designed especially for hair extensions to get that bounce back and natural swing and flow of your new tresses. Wash hair right after swimming. When brushing your hair start from the bottom and work your way up, while holding the top part to keep it from shedding or stretching!

The length of time for extensions depends on the technique you have done. There are several techniques we offer in our salon and this will vary from technician to technician.

  • Fusion:
Fusion extensions usually last 2 to 3 months for thicker textures of hair and 1 to 2 months for finer hair.
  • Micro Links:
Just as in Fusion extensions, usually last 2 to 3 months for thicker textures of hair and 1 to 2 months for finer hair, given the natural hair is healthy.
  • Sewn in Extensions:
Sewn in Extensions can last 3 to 4 months and when you have them put in again, you're able to use your LaQue's hair for several applications.
  • The Que tape/Skin weft Extensions:
Que Tape Extensions last 4 to 6 weeks and this hair is good for 6 months to 1 year. You are not to shampoo the hair 24 to 48 hours after application, so the glue can cure. When you re-do them, you just re-tape the weft on one of the polyutherine sides and re-use them several times.
  • Latex Bonded:
Latex Bonded Extensions usually last 2 to 4 weeks depending on how often you shampoo. If you shampoo daily, this is not a good method for you. I suggest you book a consultation to see what tecnique is lucrative to your LIFE STYLE.

  • Human Hair
More versatility, longer durability, custom styling and coloring available, and you can curl, flat iron and treat hair as your own.

18. In what condition will my own hair be after the extensions are removed? (back to top)
Your hair will be just like it was before the extensions were put in, there are no adverse effects. In fact, braiding allows your natural hair longer. Other techniques when taken out by a Professional will leave your hair un-harmed.

19. Will people be able to tell that I'm wearing extensions? (back to top)
Provided you choose a style and color that matches your own hair, the extensions will look totally natural. No one would ever know except you, and perhaps that special someone who is allowed to run their hands through your hair and tell you how gorgeous it is. On the other hand, if you're going for an obviously fun temporary look for a party or for just to enjoy a different buzz, then of course people will be able to tell - because you want them to.

20. Will my new hair feel heavy? (back to top)
At first you will definitely notice your extra hair. The extra volume may also initially be an enjoyable novelty - but it is surprising how quickly you get used to having a gloriously full head of hair. Our extensions are so closely matched in look and weight to your real hair that, within hours, they start feeling entirely your own.

21. Will my scalp still be able to breathe naturally with extensions? (back to top)
Our extensions are fitted close to the hair roots and scalp but do not block them, so you will be able to feel and touch your head skin as normal. Extensions will not hold in heat or prevent you from feeling the cold on your scalp in winter. To do so, you need the cover of a hat, cap or scarf. Extensions are just like normal hair - the only difference being that they make real hair look and feel thicker and better than it may naturally be.

22. Do I need to buy expensive special shampoos and conditioners? (back to top)
No. We offer LaQue's Sulfate Shampoo & Conditioner is recommended for extended life of your new tresses. The cost you will find on the site. Products page coming soon!

23. Can I wear my extensions wet, without drying my braids? (back to top)
Yes, you can. But note: wet it in the morning and make sure it is totally dry before you go to bed. Wet hair will matt and be almost impossible to comb out once it matts. This will happen to natural hair if the same was done.

24. Should I give my hair a rest between extensions? (back to top)
There is no need if they are properly applied and removed, so your own hair remains undamaged. Most people prefer to have their extensions removed and replaced on the same day, so their hair continues looking as good as ever.

25. Where does the hair come from? (back to top)
The hair we sell comes from different places in the world though mostly from the Asian countries primarily India. So we guarantee that the hair we sell is 100% Natural human hair.

26. Will they fall out if I brush it too hard? (back to top)
No, they are secure. Using a LaQues metal wire brush on the scalp will ensure that no snagging will occur.

27. Will my hair come out when the extensions are removed? (back to top)
Normal daily hair loss is 50-100 hairs per day. When you wear extensions, the hair you normally lose is trapped in the extension and does not fall out naturally. When you see some of your hair coming out with the extension, don't worry! It is only dead hair that could not fall because of the braids.

28. Which is your best hair? (back to top)
The best human hair you can get right now is Italian & European human hair which is all Remy human hair. But all our hairs are quality, it would be your preference as to the one you like the best.

29. What is Hand Tied Weft? (back to top)
The hand-tied hair is a much smaller and thinner weft than the regular machine weft hair. These wefts are handmade so that the hair is more secure and allows longer wear per track than the regular machine wefts. It dramatically reduces shedding! The hand-tied weft also reduces the bulkiness of the track when it is weaved on. This allows the hair to flow much more freely and provide a lot of body. Each of the hand-tied wefts is approximately 10" wide so that the whole piece is to be used without being cut. It is advisable to use the whole piece without cutting it. If the weft is too long for the track, then fold over at the end and continue to finish the piece. This weft is an additional cost, and be phoned in to order toll free 866-851-4710.
